Overview

Fractured Fantasies is a 3D visual novel for players who want dark, survival-driven adult stories with a grim, unsettling tone. It plays out through a text-based narrative rather than fast-paced action.

Story

Civilization has collapsed, leaving ruined cities and scattered survivors in a world stripped of order. The player moves through this dystopian setting as one of the few still holding on, facing a landscape shaped by scarcity, danger, and the remnants of a society that no longer exists.

Gameplay

Progress is driven by reading dialogue and narration, making choices that shape relationships and outcomes with the people encountered along the way. The female protagonist deals with the physical and social pressures of a broken world, including confrontations and situations tied to power, survival, and corruption. Animated scenes punctuate key moments in the story rather than replacing its text-based core.

Features

  • Post-apocalyptic setting with ruined cities and a decaying, lawless atmosphere
  • 3D character art paired with animated scenes for key moments
  • Female-led perspective navigating survival, control, and shifting power

Notes

This game includes non-consensual and incest-themed content as a central part of its story; readers sensitive to these themes should be aware before starting.

Changelog

v0.1.13

  • The skill tree now allows to lessen the maxed out skills, so you’re not stuck with maxing out if that’s not what you intended.
  • Added the first steps of a new sidequest: The Director. In the Genesis Containment Labs, the Director’s Office holds a terminal with more than the facility logs. Read through his files, and one of them will start the sidequest. You will get a notification when it begins, and the quest will appear in your Sidequests log.
  • Reading further into the Director’s files now unlocks something new. Once the sidequest has started, close the terminal and open it again, and a new personal note will be waiting among his files. It is short, but it gives you a first hint about where to look.
  • The Director’s files now connect to the rest of the world. The sidequest is set up the same way as the game’s other quests, so it will appear correctly in your quest log and work with existing saves. Anyone who has already started it keeps their progress.
  • The Concrete Catacombs are now much bigger. "Explore the city" no longer says "still being built": it opens onto the huts, the workshop and the lamp walk, and the coffee shop is open for business.
  • The workshop lets you lend a hand once a day for Skull Tokens.
  • The coffee shop sells hot drinks that take the edge off your fatigue.
  • Flint (the workshop) and Iven (the coffee shop) now have their own conversations, and Mara has a second, more personal set of conversations once she trusts you enough.
  • The three of them now respond to how close you've become. Spending time with Flint and Iven unlocks quiet scenes with each, and better rewards: Flint pays more for your help, and Iven sells cheaper, stronger drinks.
  • Mara, Flint and Iven each have a late-night scene if you become close enough to them.
  • Following The Director sidequest, the Wall of Names now changes over several days, and Iven has something to say if you keep asking around at night. Give it a few days between visits.
  • Added bleed to combat! Now, when slashing an enemy, they will have a chance to receive a bleed debuff. When facing a Cutter or another enemy that is described as a melee enemy, you now have a chance to also receive a “bleeding” debuff.
  • Added Stagger, which halves the current attack output of that turn.
  • Added Suppress, which subtracts 20 from the current hit accuracy of the next 2 turns, making it harder to hit.
  • Added Shock, which makes it impossible to land a critical strike for the next 2 turns.
  • Added Stun, which removes the current damage output of that turn.
  • Added (+Effect) on critical hit during combat, so you can see which debuffs you apply to the enemy, as well as which debuffs the enemy applies to you.
  • Changed the AP system to an all-round toxin meter system instead, which instead fills your toxin meter whenever you’re outside, and lowers it inside. Use antitoxins to lower it when outside and you’re on long exploration sessions, or outside a lot. Craft antitoxins from herbs and berries foraged in the forest.
  • Added new item: Ashberries.
  • Added new item: Glowcap Mushrooms.
  • Added new item: Bitterroot.
  • Bug fixes & Optimizations
  • Fixed capitalization issue in sleepWidget with Velka’s npcList checker.
  • Fixed capitalization issue in passageReady with Velka’s npcList checker.
  • Changed contains → includes on array checker.
  • Fixed precedence issue in sleepWidget with checking time against $houseCondition .
  • Fixed refueling vehicles will results in negative fuel.
  • Replaced all instances of $arousal with $player.arousal .
  • Silenced some code in the concrete catacombs, to reduce a massive gap in the text while searching for names on the wall.
  • Searching the flooded galleries in the Concrete Catacombs now unlocks again the next day. Before, one search locked it for the rest of the game.
  • Finishing a night shift with Mara now raises her opinion of you, so her later options can actually be reached.
  • Eating food now correctly only gains AP once per day, instead of every time the player eats.
  • The text displaying hit chance to the player is now difficulty specific instead of defaulted.
  • Weapon levels can no longer increase to infinity.
  • Escape chance now scales also with which enemy the player is facing. An enemy group (i.e swarms or groups) now has a higher chance to catch the player escaping, making it harder, but not impossible.
  • When trying to rip off the wood wall in the casino, while not being strong enough, you’re now able to try again as many times as you wish.
  • Removed the debugging enemy class setter and reused the EASY difficulty enemy class setter for debugging purposes. This will have no effect in-game.
  • Fixed continuity issues within the game, and updated hospital records as well as fixed different errors with timeline.
  • The raider jacket now checks the correct string variable when trying to buy it in the freight yard.
  • The raider boots and the raider jacket can now only be bought if they’re not already owned, from the freight yard.
  • “Just sleep” now correctly calculates seed growth as well as hunger increase.
  • Sleeping now correctly resets fatigue on all calls.
  • Fixed missing parenthesis from color blocks on meter macros in storyinit.
  • Clamped the shoebox input numberbox so you can’t accidentally crash your game.
  • When passing out, and only having one item to drop, the drop line no longer crashes.
  • Fixed a ton of spelling errors.
  • Nerdy specs
