Overview
Claire's Quest is a dark fantasy adult RPG for players who want meaningful choices to actually matter. The tone is grim and unflinching, with little room for lighthearted detours.
Story
Set in a dark fantasy world drawing on early Renaissance influences, the game follows a non-linear path shaped almost entirely by player decisions rather than a fixed script. There's no single forced route through events; the world and its dangers respond to how the player chooses to navigate them.
Gameplay
There is no combat and no grinding here; instead, the player explores locations, makes dialogue and action choices, and manages how a female protagonist responds to the people and creatures around her. Outcomes branch based on those choices, covering everything from quiet negotiation to captivity and worse, with recurring characters and locations whose states can shift over time. Relationships and standing with various factions and individuals develop through repeated interaction rather than a single scripted event.
Features
- Dark fantasy setting with an early Renaissance-inspired aesthetic
- Branching choices that produce genuinely different outcomes rather than one fixed path
- A wide cast of monster and human characters with their own dispositions
- Hand-drawn 2D art presented through a modified RPGMaker interface
Notes
This game contains non-consent, slavery, and other heavy themes throughout; players sensitive to coercion-based content should be aware before starting.
Changelog
v0.30.1
- New quest available that concludes the main part of the Temple of Fertility questline: “The Price Of Power”. Regardless of which side you chose during the preceding “Apostasy” quest, they both ultimately lead to this quest. This includes a final bossfight level with Mother Rose, the difficulty of which can be lowered depending on how much you impress Phantasm; however, even if you lose, the whole thing can just be skipped if you’d prefer, just like with the Ranger Questline’s final bossfight. There are no penalties if you skip, so don’t worry!
- New quest available as part of the Temple of Fertility questline: “Apostasy (♂)”. This is where you side with High Sister Rose, and serves as the counterpart to the earlier available “Apostasy (♀)” quest, where you side with High Sister Peony. Due to the split nature of the Temple of Fertility questline, the full extent of the story is probably best experienced by playing both sides!
- New scene available: the Corruption of Valos, a massive setpiece scene that serves as the big finale and potential ‘bad end’ of the main Temple of Fertility questline. Comes in two slightly different variations - the ‘Mother Rose’ and ‘Mother Claire’ versions – with multiple character endings depending on your choices. A condensed version is automatically unlocked in the Gallery after the completion of “The Price Of Power”. Probably one of the longest scenes we've written to date - especially epic illustrations done for this, courtesy of Sommelier!
- New scene available: Rosen Victory. This is the gameover scene that triggers when you lose the final confrontation with Mother Rose. Automatically unlocked in the Gallery after the completion of “The Price Of Power. However, while this scene is technically one big combined scene, with Rosen Victory -> Corruption of Valos (Rose version), it's just split up in the Gallery to make for easier viewing.
- New scene variation available: Mother's Embrace. This is a variation of the Roper scene, where you submit to Mother Rose after bearing witness to the ascension. Automatically unlocked in the Gallery after the completion of “Apostasy (♂)”. Again, technically this scene is technically one big combined scene, with Mother's Embrace -> Corruption of Valos (Rose version); it's just split up in the Gallery to make for easier viewing.
- Tweaked some of High Sister Peony’s dialogue, as well as some of the overall lore exposition of the Temple of Fertility, to be more consistent overall.
- Fixed a bug where you are accidentally able to access Narfu Village before you’re supposed to by getting an escort service from Dargan Town.
- Restored the ability to move Nicole (and Marie, if she’s around) in-between the Maison and the Ranch.
- Fixed the Eldritch Thurible duplicating if you go to harvest Wormtongue.
- Fixed some parts of the “Nicole’s Awakening” quest not working properly.
- Fixed a bug in the Prologue where Claire can pay to get into the Refugee Camp with any amount of silver, not just the required sum.
