Overview
Deadset Darling is a story-driven visual novel for players who like grounded adult drama over fantasy settings. The tone stays character-focused, with a quiet, personal feel rather than an epic one.
Story
Set in Westbrook, the story follows a male protagonist arriving in a city shaped by strangers, second chances, and unresolved history. Episode 1 opens that beginning, laying groundwork for connections and complications still to unfold.
Gameplay
Players move through narrated scenes and dialogue choices that shape how relationships develop, with a dedicated story mode that removes resource or scheduling pressure in favor of straight reading. An interactive mode is also available for those who want light work-based mechanics alongside the narrative.
Features
- 3D character art paired with animated scenes for key moments
- Choice-driven dialogue that steers how the protagonist connects with others
- Optional interactive mode for players who want light mechanical structure alongside the story

- Development & Improvements
- Added more segments to the Personality display, making it easier to see how your points translate into progress.
- Added a Fast Messages Mode toggle to the phone’s main screen, so it’s easier to find and switch on.
- Added Skip Last Messages, which jumps to the final line of the current chat. Handy if texting isn’t your thing or you’re replaying the game.
- Reworked the animation player. The old one wasn’t displaying the images as clearly as I wanted, so I put together a more consistent system. The 3D animations should now look sharper and closer to the quality of the still renders.
- Music & Sound
- 20 different music tracks: 15 Episode 2 tracks and 5 returning tracks from Episode 1.
- 27 different audio files: 12 sound effects, 4 ambient tracks, and 11 character and animation sounds.
Bug Fixes:
Major ones:
- Reworked Jade’s Episode 1 scene so players are no longer forced into it.
- Removed the unnecessary pauses I spotted in the early game. This should help with the extra clicks needed to advance some scenes.
- Fixed various flag, branching, scene flow, and dialogue issues.
- Checked translation matching against the English script across all 11 supported translation languages.
